Golf Packages at Chez Passet

We are privileged here at Chez Passet to be surrounded by a number of good golf courses to suit all levels of golfers. The golf courses vary from flat tree lined parkland courses to undulating courses at the foot of the Pyrenees affording some fantastic views of the mountains. All the courses are open all year round and for the most part, even at weekends when the sun is shining, are VERY quiet and is not unusual to have the courses to yourself. Green fees are very reasonable and all have facilities for practice, a spot of lunch a and a post round drink! Having played most of my golf in Scotland it makes a refreshing change to not have to worry about the cold and the rain spoiling a round of golf!

We are offering Golf Packages which will cater for a group of up to six golfers (a minimum of two persons). The package will be based along similar lines to our Winter Ski packages and include the following.

A four night package which will include airport pick up and drop off, four nights accommodation, breakfast, and a four course evening meal on each night of your stay, including wine and coffee. Transport to and from the chosen golf course is also included in the price.

Our prices range from just £250.00 per person Half Board for a four night stay throughout the season.

This is based on a Thursday to Monday stay and pick ups and drop offs at Pau Pyrenees airport which is 40 minutes from Chez Passet. We are able to offer more flexible lengths of stays on request as well as pick ups and drop offs from different airports, for example Toulouse (BA, Easy Jet, British Midland) or Biarritz (Ryan Air to Stansted and Dublin). Flights, green fees, golf equipment hire are not included in the price.

THE GOLF COURSES

LOURDES GOLF CLUB

Our nearest golf course is situated in Lourdes. The Lourdes golf club is within 10 minutes drive from Chez Passet. It is beautifully situated on the southern bank of the Lake of Lourdes. Each hole of this woodland course offers magnificent views of the Pyrenees. Golf carts and practice facilities are also available as well as a fine clubhouse with restaurant overlooking the course. The course is not the longest but the fairways are for the most part very tight and require careful driving! There is also a bar and restaurant on site as well as a driving range and putting green.

18 holes, 5384m (5891yd) Par 71, Slope 131 Green fees vary between 24 and 29 Euros

GOLF COUNTRY CLUB DE BIGORRE

Another golf course well worth playing is 20 minutes away above the spa town of Bagnères de Bigorre and is called Golf Country Club de Bigorre. Again this offers spectacular views, with the Pic de Midi being the focal point from almost every hole. As with the Lourdes golf club, practice facilities, golf carts and restaurant facilities are available. This is my personal favourite!

GOLF DE LANNEMEZAN

This is course is situated 40 minutes from Chez Passet and is set in 40 hectares of flat parkland. Almost all fairways are tree lined and again accurate driving is essential and the course also offers great views of the Pyrenees. There is a driving range putting green and a great Restaurant and Bar.

GOLF DU CHATEAU DE PALLANE

One hour from Chez Passet is the Pallane Golf Club. This a fairly new course set within the grounds of the Chateau de Pallane and offers the longest challenge in the local area. The course varies from flat fairways to fairly steep uphill and downhill fairways (a golf buggy is good idea!). There are also holes that require the careful navigation of the water hazards! There is a driving range situated next to the first tee as well as a putting green. There is also a restaurant and bar.

18 holes 6300m Par 73. Green fees vary from 25 to 30 Euros.

PAU GOLF CLUB

50 minutes to the West of Chez Passet is Pau Golf Club which is the oldest Golf club in Continental Europe established in 1856. It was the Scots to be precise, taking time out after having beaten the Army of Napoleon at the Battle of Orthez in 1814, and having decided to stay in the area, started to play a bit of golf and over the coming years set up what is now the Pau Golf Club.

The course if flat and is not long (not really surprising given its age and proximity to the city of Pau). It is situated along the banks of the Gave de Pau.

18 holes, 5312 metres S.S.S. 69. Practice facilities including three practice holes. Green fees vary from 40 Euros to 50 Euros
